Antique French Deer-Foot Carving Set in Fraissinet & Cyprien Fabre Maritime Box

Antique French carving set: a carving knife and serving fork with genuine deer-foot taxidermy handles and steel blade and tines, in the original satin- and velvet-lined presentation box. The box lid is printed in gilt with the compliments of the Compagnie de Navigation Fraissinet & Cyprien Fabre and the Societe Generale de Transports Maritimes, giving the set genuine ocean-liner and maritime-memorabilia interest alongside its Black Forest hunting-lodge styling. The knife blade carries an etched cutler's mark, only partly legible.

Two collecting worlds meet in one box. Shipping-line presentation pieces are pursued by maritime collectors, and deer-foot cutlery has a long following among sporting and Black Forest buyers. Finding both together, with the original box intact, is unusual.
