Antique French Deer-Foot Carving Set in Fraissinet & Cyprien Fabre Maritime Box

Antique French carving set - a carving knife and serving fork with genuine deer-foot (lower-leg / hoof) taxidermy handles and steel blade and tines, presented in the original satin- and velvet-lined gift box. The box lid is printed in gilt: 'Avec les meilleurs voeux de la Cie de Navigation Fraissinet & Cyprien Fabre et de la Ste Generale de Transports Maritimes' - a compliments / gift box from the French Fraissinet & Cyprien Fabre shipping lines and the Societe Generale de Transports Maritimes, giving it ocean-liner / maritime-memorabilia appeal in addition to the Black Forest 'hunting' style. The knife blade carries an etched cutler's mark (only partly legible). CONDITION - vintage used condition: blades tarnished/stained, hide on the handles dry with normal wear, satin lining toned and spotted, box soiled with age; hinges intact.
