Product Details
Original 19th-century French Comtoise (Morbier) clock face with its pierced gilt-brass repoussé crest and ornamental surround. Plain white enamel dial with bold black Roman numerals (no maker's signature visible). The crest carries the typical radiant sunburst mask above a flower basket flanked by acanthus scrolls, within a beaded and rope-bordered gilt surround with floret corners. Offered as a decorative architectural-salvage piece - face/front assembly and reverse only. CONDITION - age-appropriate: enamel with crazing and light surface marks; two winding holes and central arbor present; gilding with mellow wear; thin repousse crest with minor losses/denting as is normal for the type. Reverse is a dark iron plate. NOTE - unsigned. No movement, hands, weights, pendulum, or case. Comtoise/Morbier attribution and 19th-century dating are based on style and construction. Dimensions, weight, price and cost to be confirmed by seller.
