Product Details
Original 19th-century French Comtoise (Morbier) clock face with its pierced, gilded repousse brass crest and matching ornamental surround. The white enamel dial is signed "Bte Pascaud a Valence" - the maker (Baptiste Pascaud) and his town, Valence in the Drome. The crest is the classic Comtoise design: a radiant sunburst with a female mask, over a basket of flowers flanked by sweeping acanthus; the surround has beaded and rope borders with floret corner bosses. Decorative architectural salvage - face/front assembly and reverse only. CONDITION - age-appropriate: enamel with a star-crack and crazing radiating from the centre arbor, minor chips and spotting; two winding holes; gilding worn with patina; some denting/splitting to the thin repousse crest as is typical. Reverse is a dark iron plate. NOTE - no movement, hands, weights, pendulum, or case. Maker and town per the dial signature; date inferred from style. Dimensions, weight, price and cost to be confirmed by seller.
