Product Details
Original 19th-century French Comtoise (Morbier) clock face, signed on the white enamel dial "Gallien a Bourgoin" - the clockmaker and his town (Bourgoin, now Bourgoin-Jallieu, in the Isere, southeastern France). Hand-painted decoration of pink tulips and a ribbon-tied floral swag, with bold black Roman numerals and an inner calendar/date track. Offered as a decorative architectural-salvage piece - the enamelled iron dial plate and its reverse only. CONDITION - age-appropriate wear: enamel with fine surface crazing, scattered spotting and light scratches; central arbor hole and two lower winding holes present; iron back plate oxidized with a recessed gong/resonator disc and a partial paper label to the reverse. NOTE - this example is the flat enamel dial plate without the pierced gilt-brass crest seen on the other faces in this group. No movement, hands, weights, pendulum, or case included. Maker and town are taken from the signature; exact date is inferred from style. Dimensions, weight, price and cost to be confirmed by seller.
